If you're new around here it's time you know... Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday! And if you've known me longer than five minutes I'm pretty sure you knew that already. I'm not entirely sure why I love Halloween so much and I really can't explain it, I just know I love it!
This year I am halfway across the world from my Halloween decorations - and I got rid of a good chunk when we downsized everything. (I know, right?! It was so hard but Joel made me! Don't worry, I still have one giant rubbermaid container full of my favorites). Since I can't do any decorating myself, I thought I would live vicariously and check out the best Halloween stuff on Amazon this year. I stuck to four general categories - wearable items, usable items, outdoor decorations, and indoor decorations.
The following items are my top 10 picks and believe you me if we weren't traveling the world right now I would drop money on every single one of these items. I hope you love some of them too!
1. Trick Or Treat Yo'Self T-shirt
This item immediately jumped onto my wish list because not only is it a Halloween item - it's also a reference to one of my favorite TV shows, Parks and Recreation! Tom and Donna's "treat yo'self" tradition is fantastic, and I definitely think you should treat yourself to this awesome t-shirt, especially since it's only $19.99. Personally I would get the orange one in the men's sizing (I usually prefer the men's cut) and I would totally rock this tee year round.
There's nothing better on a cold October night than cuddling up on the couch to watch some scary movies. What better to keep you warm than a cozy cardigan covered in skulls! Although let's be real, I would probably try to get away with wearing this to work, too. It's so cute! The price varies on this by size and color but the highest seems to be around $15. I would stick with black or the stone color so it would match as much as possible, but I could see someone rocking any of the other colors!
One of the easiest ways to spice up any outfit for the holiday is with a fun pair of earrings. This set is highly affordable at only $8.99 for all four, and they seem to be fairly good quality. They come with a velvet bag and you get pumpkins, spider webs, pirate skulls, and bats! I would rock these all month long with pretty much any outfit.
4. Coffee Mug - "Oh look.. Another Glorious Morning. Makes Me Sick."
I think this mug is absolutely fabulous for two reasons. First, it is a Hocus Pocus reference and HP is quite possibly my favorite Halloween movie (much to Joel's chagrin). Second, it actually works year round, especially if you aren't a morning person. At $9.99 it's a tad on the pricey side for a coffee mug but I love the font and it's on the bigger side of standard mugs.
When Halloween rolls around (and I'm at home) you wouldn't catch me dead drinking out of a regular glass. Instead you'll find me with some sort of Halloween goblet in hand whether I'm indulging in wine or just my daily water. I've owned a multitude of these over the years, usually picking up super cheap ones from the dollar store that only last a season. This one looks sturdier and like it would last more than one year, and yet at less than $2 a pop a set of four won't break the bank. I also love the black and gold color scheme.
I would use this spoon to eat my cereal, soup, stir up a hot drink, basically anything that calls for a spoon. I'm pretty sure I would wash it after every use so I could use it daily in October. It's not really something anyone else would see or care about, but it would make me smile all season long! The price of $12.99 is a bit high for a single spoon but you can't put a price on a smile, right? Honorable mention goes to this spoon which is a mash up Harry Potter and Mean Girls reference.
7. Outdoor Light Projector - Skulls
Outdoor light projectors are my favorite outdoor decorations for any holiday. They take less than 5 minutes to set up and make your house look super festive. I love and appreciate people who have time to set up elaborate outdoor displays, but let's be real, that's not me. If you want to take the easy way out this projector is on sale for $19.95 and will cover your house in spooky lights in no time!
There are a ton of Halloween door mats on Amazon but I filtered through all of them to find what I think is the best one under $20! I love the simple black and orange, partly because I think the orange will pop even at night, and partly because I think it would go well with all the pumpkins that are inevitably on my porch this time of year.
This indoor decoration is a little cheesy, but it's been a staple of mine for years. In this set you get caution style tape that says "Enter if you Dare" "Caution: Zombie Zone" and "Haunted: Keep Out!". I think they are fun for general Halloween decorating, I will often wrap some around the kitchen cabinets. If you are throwing a party the keep out one works well for marking off rooms or areas of the house that are off limits to guests. You can also cut them into strips and hang them in a doorway to make a pass through. With 30 feet in each set and only $5.61 total you are getting a great deal that would probably last more than one year!
My mom will shake her head at this one as my penchant for indoor lighting makes her cringe. She thinks it's tacky but I just love the soft glow from lights strung up around the ceiling. I love purple as an accent color for Halloween and this purple fairy light set would provide the most magical glow for the season. I would hang this up in the room I spend the most time in, watching movies with all the lights off except for the fairy lights is the perfect night for me. (While wearing my skull sweater and drinking from my skeleton goblet, of course). They are super easy to hang with these clear mini command hooks.
If you decide to purchase any of these items I will get a small compensation from Amazon (but it won't cost you any extra!) Most importantly, if you get any of them I want to see them in action. So many of you say you live vicariously through our travel - now it's my turn to live vicariously through your Halloween decorations!
Even if you don't plan to purchase anything let me know which one is your favorite? I'd love to hear it!
XOXO, Bethany
