I arrived at work today to find this card slipped under my door.
The card was written by one of my residents, in response to a birthday card I sent him earlier in the week. He has the most beautiful and neat handwriting I think I've ever seen.
Here is what it said:
"Dear Chaplain Bethany,
Thank you for the lovely card, and for the sentiment expressed on it.
One morning this week I read this quote that caught my attention... "About the future, Lord, surprise me!" It caused me to stop and ponder the thought. Mystery makes life interesting. If we knew ahead of time what was to be, life would lack excitement and gratitude.
God has surprised me in so many ways this past year, so I look for His surprises in 2017, in what outwardly appears sometimes to be a stagnant and uncertain world.
Bethany, I pray you will discover, too, God's wonderful surprises in this new year on a daily basis."
From your mouth to God's ears, Percy.
XOXO, Bethany
