I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love me a good romantic comedy. And like I like my food - the cheesier the better! We had fully intended to watch a different Netflix movie, but when our remote selection function was malfunctioning we went with this one since it was on screen and clickable. No worries, it was already on my list of ones to see!
The story is as adorable as it is predictable. Two overworked assistants, Harper and Charlie, scheme together to make their bosses, Kirsten and Rick, fall in love with each other. The idea is that if their bosses are in a relationship, they will finally take some personal time, which means Harper and Charlie will have time for their own lives. At first, their plan works exceedingly well, with some shenanigans along the way, of course. When things start to go haywire, Harper and Charlie have to face up to the manipulations they have made and the consequences of messing with people's emotions.
I'm sure you can guess how the story turns out, but despite the predictability I still found it enjoyable. There were some funny moments, a really fun side character (Charlie's roommate), and good acting from all four main characters. It's certainly nothing groundbreaking in movie making, and I don't think it's a film that would have made it to the big screen, but it's fun when you accept it for what it is. I do think it's eye roll worthy that this is the second Netflix movie in a row we have watched where the main female character is named Harper. Come up with some new names, writers!
If you like chick flicks and rom-coms I think you'll enjoy this one. Gather some like minded friends, pour some wine (it makes the jokes funnier) and press play. If you end up talking through parts of it you still won't miss much, making it the perfect movie for a night with the gals!
