There were chases and explosions and jumping incredible distances and guns and escapes and puzzles and BOOM! But there wasn't much heart, sadly. Very little humor, a little bit of compassion, and not much depth. It's a good popcorn movie, where you just enjoy the visuals and action, but the characters aren't really that interesting. It's been compared with the Indiana Jones movies, but those had a lot of humor in them. They often do things that don't make a lot of sense and say things that make you roll your eyes. Also, the trailers give away about 95% of the movie, so probably best not to watch them all.

Tomb Raider is the reboot and origin story of the video game character Lara Croft. Her father goes off on some mysterious adventure and never comes back. Lara gets a clue to where he went and goes off to see if she can figure out what happened to him. She gets shipwrecked but finds out she's on the island her father was looking for along with some unsavory treasure hunters. Action and tomb raiding ensues.

This was a decent action movie, often keeping my interest up, but it had some issues. For instance, most of the dangerous scenes involve Lara Croft, of course, but this is an origin film in a franchise. Do we really think she's going to die? It's hard to be suspenseful during these scenes that are trying to push you to the edge of your seat. The plot itself is decent, but some of the writing for the characters is just dumb. Sometimes it feels like important development scenes were dropped in favor of slow-motion jumping scenes. Still, it is a pretty good mindless action movie. I wish there was more humor in it, but it was still fairly enjoyable.
