I had no idea this movie existed until it showed up on my local theater schedule, on a Wednesday no less.  I looked up a preview on YouTube so I could get a sense of the movie, but didn’t watch the whole thing as to avoid any spoilers.  I figured it wouldn’t be my kind of movie...but off I went anyway!

When the opening scene started with blasting rap music shouting curse words and the N-word, my feeling that this wouldn’t be my kind of movie was confirmed.  However, it was a peek into an entirely different kind of world, so I tried to let myself enjoy the journey. The story follows Priest, a young drug dealer who wants to make one final big score and then retire.  He tussles with a local gang, his supplier, a Mexican cartel, the cops, and even his own men as he makes his moves.

I really enjoyed the performance from Trevor Jackson as Priest, and my goodness is hair was fabulous, it basically stole the show.  I found myself invested in his story and his fate, crossing my fingers that he would get what he wanted in the end. There were parts of the movie that were so violent I was cringing and covering my eyes, so keep that in mind.

If you like action movies with car chases, lots of gun fights and just a tiny bit of romance, you’ll probably enjoy this one!
