I'm always up for a fun action movie, especially one starring Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson.  I could tell from the previews this movie would be a bit over the top and ridiculous, but probably fun nonetheless.  It is pretty much the definition of a popcorn movie.  Settle in, turn off your brain, and you'll enjoy it a lot more.

The story follows Will Sawyer (the Rock), his wife (Neve Campbell) and two kids as they are the first family ever to stay in "The Pearl" the world's largest structure now opening in Hong Kong.  Sawyer has been brought in as a security expert to clear the opening of the top half of the building for residential occupancy.  Before that happens, a mysterious group starts a fire in the building, for a specific purpose yet to be revealed.  Sawyer must race time and flame to save his family and take down the bad guys.

If you start thinking too critically there are major parts of the movie that don't make a whole lot of sense.  But if you try to shut that out and just enjoy the story as it unfolds, you'll have a decent time.  The acting isn't terrible, I love that Neve Campbell gets to be a badass, and the story has a decent amount of suspense.  Though modeled after Diehard it is nowhere near the same caliber of action movie.

If you like a decent action flick this one is worth seeing.  Grab some popcorn and settle in for gunfire, explosions and death defying feats!
