This is the most predictable movie I've seen (even more than Titanic!), but it's not about the plot. It's about the characters and telling this true story. It was very touching and it brought tears to my ears over and over. If you like movies like this (Remember the Titans or We Are Marshall), then you'll enjoy this movie. It's a good example in the genre of 'overcoming adversity/feel good' sports movies. Plus, it's true!

The Miracle Season is about how to overcome grief when faced with the loss of a loved one. A volleyball team in Iowa City, Iowa loses their star player in an accident and her ailing mother dies the next day. We see the story of the father, the best friend, and the coach of the team struggling with who they are and trying to find their way when their brightest light has been snuffed out far too soon. Having lost games due to forfeiture, they decide that Caroline (nicknamed Line) wouldn't have wanted it that way. But can they play without their star player?

Yes, when the movie starts, you can pretty much guess every major plot point. But it's not about that. It's about telling an amazing story. Tragedy hits all over the world and those stories can also be touching and inspiring. But that doesn't mean that a tale like this shouldn't be told! Talk about inspiration! The willingness to overcome obstacles in order to be the team that their beloved friend cherished is extraordinary. It's a pretty standard take on the story and they didn't push any boundaries, but that doesn't make the movie less important. This really is a must-see movie for anyone that appreciates this type of story.
