I admit that raunchy comedies aren't my thing. There's Something About Mary made me laugh like crazy, but this one reminded me more of the American Pie sequels. I laughed a few times, but most of the setups were so obvious, I just rolled my eyes. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great.
Blockers tells the story of some overbearing parents trying to stop their kids from having sex on prom night. These three parents realize they don't know their kids as well as they thought. Two of them are a bit overbearing, while the third is a bit of a deadbeat dad. He says that sex on prom is a rite of passage, but is convinced to go along with the other two.
I really enjoy Leslie Mann, but usually it's in spite of the movie. And John Cena is always a bit too much. As I said, this really isn't my kind of movie, but even if it were, I would have been disappointed. You really want more surprises in a movie like this. It really should be as unpredictable as possible, but this just wasn't. The characters were almost wholly unbelievable, too. My suggestion is to skip it and maybe rent it.
Do NOT watch the preview, though... the few surprise humorous parts are pretty much all given away by the preview. You've been warned.
