When it comes to Netflix Originals they can really be hit or miss. They make some great ones (like 6 Underground), and they also make some that are so awful we literally didn't even finish watching them and therefore didn't review them (Tall Girl, Game Over Man!). For me, this one falls firmly into the hit category.

The description on Netflix tells you that this is the story of a cop who gets obsessive over a mysterious female serial killer. That is an accurate description, but don't let it fool you - the movie is so much more than that as well. The main character is Locke, played by Boyd Holbrook who, in his voice and mannerisms, reminds me a lot of David Arquette. We see how his obsession with one particular case begins to affect his personal and professional life.

The story is very well told and I can't really say much more for fear of giving too much away. I think it is a creative story - it steps outside of normal movie tropes to deliver something fairly original. The acting was great overall and I'd expect nothing less from a veteran character actor like Michael C. Hall (who plays fellow cop and brother-in-law to the lead.) The story moved along at a fast pace and kept me interested the entire time. It even leaves you with an interesting thought experiment!

If you like mysteries with enough action and intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat, give this one a try, I think you'll like it.
