I feel like I have to start by saying I am a fan of the original version of this movie.  It is just such a fun concept, and I love the update in the new one of switching the gender roles.  The previews for this always made me chuckle, so I was looking forward to it.

In case you didn't see the 80's version of the movie (which you should!) the story follows a billionaire playboy who is rude to a small town girl just struggling to get by with her three kids.  A few days later when he falls off his boat and gets amnesia, the universe has presented her with the perfect revenge scheme.  She tells this rich man he is her husband, and puts him to work doing hard labor at a construction job, helping her take care of the kids, and doing all the cooking and cleaning around the house while she studies to become a nurse.  Of course, shenanigans ensue.

The story is fun and heartwarming and has plenty of laughs.  But boy oh boy did the acting leave something to be desired.  I like Anna Faris as a person, but she is, in general, a terrible actress. I've enjoyed Eugenio Derbez in the past (Instructions Not Included is adorable), but in this movie, he and Faris seemed to think acting only involved speaking loudly and gesticulating wildly.  Perhaps that was a problem with the director, but it made the movie rather obnoxious. It could have been so much better if the acting had been improved even just a bit.

Overall it's still a light-hearted romantic romp, and if that's what you're in the mood for then hop aboard and go see it!
