I don't usually like to subject myself to scary movies (I think I'm still recovering from watching Hereditary), but for Halloween every year I make an exception. This one popped up as a Netflix original that just came out this year so I thought we'd give it a go for the spookiest day of the year!
I didn't realize until the movie started that it takes place in the UK - where we are right now! Though we are in Wales and they are in Scotland. A brother and sister team run a ghost hunting business, knowing full well that they are swindling customers out of their money. Yet over time, Angela does indeed start to see things, always accompanied by a nosebleed. When they get a call to cleanse an old foster home of the ghosts inside, things really start to get crazy.
I don't want to give away any of the story but suffice it to say it's pretty decent. Nothing groundbreaking original but it wasn't exactly what I expected either. It's not overly terrifying - there were some jump scares that made me squeal but that's par for the course with me and pretty much any mildly scary movie.
If you're looking for super scary (like Hereditary!) this isn't the one for you, but if you want something mildy spooky with an intriguing story this one is the one to watch!
