Yeah, the movie is a rehashing of Groundhog Day, but that's ok. I love the concept of reliving the day over and over, and this is a new twist on it. I didn't expect much from this movie, but it was actually pretty enjoyable. Sure, there was the obvious story of the terrible person slowly getting better over every iteration. Yeah, it had the realization that the people she surrounded herself with were also terrible. Yeah, she found the ones that truly cared about her. But it had heart and some brains mixed it. It was a pleasant surprise!
So this movie follows a young girl in college. She wakes up after a party in another guy's bed. She has a typical day celebrating her birthday at her sorority, then BAM! Murdered! She wakes with a GASP! And this is the movie we all know is coming. Oh, that's familiar. De ja vu! Wait, am I experiencing the same day?! Am I going crazy?! She finds the ones that really care about her and she lets go of a few demons along the way. But there's a fun little murder mystery along with it.
I kinda enjoyed this movie. It started off with a few eye-rolls, but it was pretty good. Not great, no. But it was cute and didn't take itself too seriously. There were a couple jump scares, but for the most part, the character was interesting to watch and develop.
