I really wanted to like this movie. I like Gabrielle Union, and I love the idea of a story about a mother's love for her kids being so powerful she can outwit a bunch of criminals. Unfortunately this movie fell far short of it's potential.
The story follows Shaun Russell (Gabrielle Union) as she takes her kids to her recently deceased father's isolated country house for the weekend. They are going to close out the property and get it listed for sale. Unbeknownst to them, her father was killed by a band of robbers who intend to spend this same weekend stealing the four million dollars in cash he kept on the property. As she is outside making a phone call the criminals get in, tie up her kids, and use her father's state of the art security system to lock her out. She spends the rest of the movie trying to break in and save her children.
There were parts of the movie that didn't make much sense. Several characters acted in ways that hardly anyone would, even in such an extreme situation. One of the criminals in particular was such an over actor he was constantly taking me out of scenes that were supposed to be the most dangerous and suspenseful. Overall it just fell flat.
I recommend you don't waste you time on this one, go spend some time with your loved ones for Mother's Day instead!
