I do like Rom Coms, but I'm not really a sucker for them. I like good characters with a lot of personality and skill. This movie had some personality, but the characters weren't really that interesting, sadly. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good, either. I think it was meant to be a little bit more slow moving for an older audience. Still, if you like any recent Diane Keaton movies, you'll enjoy this.

Book Club follows four ladies in the prime of their lives. They're successful and in different stages of romance. We have the married one, the widow, the divorced, and the serial dater with no interest in settling down. They each are struggling in their own way with romance, and they decide that the book for their monthly book club will be the 50 Shades series to spice things up. And boy does it! They become more adventurous and add some extra romance to their lives.

Sadly, from my spoiler-free description, you can still pretty much guess everything that happens in the movie. There aren't really any surprises, but that's not really the point of movies like this. It's cute and fun for those that like this sort of movie. There're some good characters and decent acting. I guess I wish there were some other options in the script to make it a little bit more interesting. It was entertaining, but just a tad disappointing for the caliber of talent.
