Happy Father’s Day to my hubby! Most countries around the world have a day to honor fathers, but the day varies. I did discover that 90+ countries, including the US and the UK, celebrate on the third Sunday in June.
In our house we typically take Dad out for lunch somewhere of his choosing. As you know our daughter is living in the UK, so we aren’t celebrating together this year.
And with the pandemic, we have yet to eat out. So this year is a little different. When I asked Roy what he would like for Father’s Day he quickly replied Detroit Style Pizza. Now since this Pandemic Pizza journey began, I have made dozens of pizzas without repeating, until yesterday. Although this pizza takes advance planning, Matthew and I started the dough on Thursday and I made the sauce on Saturday, it is well worth the time and effort. And Dad is worth the time and effort as well!
Thursday Doughday: In the US Thursday was National Eat Your Vegetables Day! So, in order to celebrate we decided to use up some rhubarb from the garden. And yes, rhubarb is a vegetable! We made Rhubarb Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Pecan Cookies for dessert. And, for dinner we made Strawberry & Bacon Spinach Salad with Rhubarb Salad Dressing…
Friday Pieday: Two of my hubby’s favorite foods are blueberries and blue cheese. So I decided we would celebrate Father’s Day early with a sweet & savory Blueberry Pizza on thin honey crust topped with a cream cheese sauce, Parmesan, Gorgonzola (a milder type of blue cheese), pancetta, red onion, blueberries and mozzarella…
Next week I am taking on a challenge from a friend…cauliflower on pizza!
