Though Des Moines is relatively small compared to some American cities, this town boasts many of the things larger cities do - good theater, a thriving music scene, and fantastic art. (All this without the traffic and the high cost of living!) One of the best places to see what Des Moines has to offer when it comes to art is the Sculpture Park located downtown, right by the library (and close to the secret garden!)
The Sculpture Park was established in 2009 when John and Mary Poppajohn donated 30 works of art to the Des Moines Art Center. Today you can see 24 of those works on display! Below I will share my photos of some of my favorite pieces in the general order we found them as we wandered through the park. If you want to see all of the pieces they have on display you'll just have to come to Des Moines and check it out for yourself!

Bonus Sculpture! This one is actually at the Des Moines Library across the street, but I thought it was fun so I included it here anyway.
So there you go, a selection of my favorite sculpture from the park! Which one is your favorite? Can you guess which one is my absolute favorite? Comment below!
