Losing the Weight, Finding Myself: Week 43

Weight/Measurements: Still in Limbo

Okay, so we totally planned on walking down to Mumbles on Friday (2 miles there, 2 miles back) to weigh in so we would know where we are. But y'all, I did - not - feel - like - it. I'm not sure what my resistance was - probably a fear of seeing the scale go up or stay the same or just generally not reflect the progress I feel like I'm making. I don't want to be a prisoner to the scale while at the same time I really want to hit my end of year goal of 199. We'll definitely weigh in one more time before we leave Wales, but it won't be this week right after Thanksgiving!

Speaking of I am soooo excited for Thanksgiving. Obviously it is not a holiday over here, but we are making it one! The pastor of the church we have been attending and his wife have graciously offered to host, and Emily will be helping us grocery shop and help me cook on Thursday. We have invited a couple other couples and our friend Steve so if everyone comes we should have a total of 13 people. It should be fun! Plus with the time difference with back home, by the time we get home in the evening it will be the perfect time to get in touch with our families on their TG afternoon.

I am not going to worry about what I eat on TG day. It is going to be a full on comfort food fest of all my favorite (and Joel's favorite) Thanksgiving dishes. Or at least, the best approximation of them I can create here in Wales (I'm not sure I can find all of the ingredients I need!). I will continue to reach my workout goals for the week, but all food will be eaten and appreciated on Thanksgiving Day. After that it will be back to healthy stuff, no using the whole of the holidays as an excuse to be a glutton for me. It will help that I'm not working at a church where there is a constant influx of holiday cookies, cakes, caramels, and other goodies, as well as countless potlucks and parties to attend. I'll miss those things a bit, but not the temptation they always were!

That was a lot of rambling for today, I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving this week!

XOXO, Bethany
