Today was a day full of driving for me!  I went over to Marion, IA for a LuLaRoe training event.  I found some new ideas for organizing items at pop-ups.  I met some interesting ladies, and one really sweet leader who took pity on me for not having a sponsor, so she gave me the same goody bag she had brought for her downline.

Today started with donuts with two fellow young clergy women here in town. The gathering was sparked over a discussion of leggings that may or may not look like donuts.

New Media

In our house, we do not have traditional TV. We don't want to pay for cable, and we don't even have an antenna to get the free stations.

Instead, we get our news and entertainment from alternate sources. Thank goodness for the Internet and smart devices.

Joel tends to watch a lot of news related you tube videos, vlogs, and Facebook live.  I tend to watch a lot of TV shows on Hulu and Netflix.  Hulu helps me keep up with shows still airing, and Netflix lets me binge watch past shows.

Snow Day

We had big plans to go to Ames today and run all sorts of errands - LuLaRoe delivery, inventory swap, tax meeting...but mother nature had other ideas.  We rescheduled everything to Friday and decided to spend the day at home.  I didn't even put real clothes on today.  I love snow days!

Here is what our backyard looked like mid-afternoon:

Wear A Dress Tuesday #4

Today I wore a style I don't wear too often, the Nicole dress.  It is a fabulous dress, I just always miss the pockets on my beloved Amelia.  Nicole is a dress with a full skirt, scoop neck, and 3/4 length sleeves.  It comes in a variety of fabrics, but my favorite kind is when it comes in what I call the "Amelia fabric" - which means it is thicker, as opposed to t-shirt material.  As a curvy gal, I feel the thicker material helps cover areas I don't want emphasized.

When Breathe Becomes Air

One of my unwritten goals for 2017  is to read more books.  I have a really bad habit of buying about 5 books at a time, reading 2, then putting the rest on my shelf.  Even if I only do that about 6 times a year, that leaves a lot of unread books on my shelves.  So I'm hoping to work my way through those - and I'm putting myself on a buying freeze in the mean time.

Movie Day

In the name of trying to take things a little easier sometimes, we made time to watch two movies today.  Thank goodness for Netflix and Hulu with their endless entertainment options.

First up was a Netflix original movie, "True Memoirs of an International Assassin."  It starred Kevin James, Andy Garcia, and some other notable people, and it was hilarious.  A tad bit predictable, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

January 21st, 2017

Today was a pop-up day!  We traveled an hour and a half to have a pop-up boutique hosted by a customer.  We had a great turnout, good sales, and our hostess earned a lot of free LuLaRoe.  It was awesome!

On the way home we got hungry, so we stopped in the tiny town of Ackley.  Google first directed us to a small family restaurant...that was closed.  Like not closed on Saturdays, closed for good.  Way to go, Google.  So we found the only open restaurant in town, Pizza Ranch.

Double Date!

Today was a great day!  We worked a whole lot, but we also got to spend some time with friends.  Heather knew I hadn't been getting out of the house much (unless it was for work) so she invited me to lunch.  We brought our husbands along and had a delightful double date!  Plus they brought their cute baby,  so, yay!

Joel and Chris shared a tender moment over some tiramisu for dessert:

Rough Day

January 19th, 2017

I got a headache starting last night...woke up with the same headache this morning...struggled with it all day.  My brain was foggy and it was hard to concentrate on anything.  After work, 2 things helped me feel better.

1. A large iced caramel coffee from McDonald's

2. Our new favorite TV show: The Good Place.  I heart Kristen Bell and all she does, and this show is no exception.  It is high-larious.  It's a totally novel concept and cracks me up the whole time!

Today I am grateful for the little things.
