Girl's Night

March 2nd, 2017

Today was a lazy day.  We started with one episode of the office while we ate breakfast...and then 8 or so episodes later it was noon.  We made it out of the house for lunch and to run a few errands.  Then we watched more Office and took a nap.  Then it was time to go to Heather's for Girl's Night!

Ash Wednesday Thumb

March 1st, 2017

Today is Ash Wednesday, which is one of my favorite days of the liturgical year.  "Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return."  It's a sobering reminder of a truth we tend to spend the rest of the day avoiding.  I found both last year and this year, that it means even more to me at Friendship Haven.  A reminder of death seems even more poignant when placed on the head of a 103 year old woman.

I didn't want to take a selfie with my ashed forehead, but I couldn't resist a picture of my thumb after ashing 100 people.

Wear A Dress Tuesday #9

Last night a new dress showed up in a shipment, and it just had to be mine.  A black Nicole in my size and my preferred fabric?  Yes please!  Today I wore it with some Valentine's Day leggings (appropriate year-round imho), and a Sarah for some extra warmth.  Despite the snow on the ground I didn't want to wear my boots (they hurt my feet yesterday) so I went with flats.  All in all a winning combo!

Pattern Mixing

Today I attempted some pattern mixing with a black and white Amelia and some red and black leggings.  At work, a resident told me that my outfit "hurt his eyes".  So, maybe I have some work to do?

I posted this picture in my VIP group and the ladies overwhelming said it worked.  We'll see what more I come up with in the future!

Passing Stuff On

After work this morning it was a "get all the things done" kind of day.  I completed a million little tasks around the house and I feel so much better!  One of those tasks was cleaning out my closet - again.  I keep getting rid of more and more clothes that aren't LuLaRoe.  I just don't see myself wearing any of those things ever again, even if I don't sell LuLaRoe forever.  One of these days I'm going to get rid of my jeans.

Today was a hang around the house kind of day.  And then we had a LulaRoe party at the house!  It was so much fun and amazing not to have to leave the house with all of the inventory.  Of course then we had more work of another kind...we had to shovel the driveway.  Ice had formed under the snow so it took a lot of extra work to clear.

On the plus side, the house has pretty icicles!

Crazy Weather

So on Wednesday we were taking long walks in the spring sunshine...and today we woke up to a world covered in snow.  Despite school being cancelled and our road not being cleared well, we went out anyway!  As we were driving, I snapped a pic of one of my favorite little bits about our neighborhood:

Double the fun!

Today I decided to try something I haven't done in a long time - putting a pair of studs in my second ear piercings!  I've had my ears double pierced since...I'm not sure, sometime in Junior High maybe.  But I haven't worn earrings in the second hole in at least a decade.  Randomly today I decided to try it with my tiniest of diamond studs (thanks college boyfriend, lol).

Today was a super fun day!  We spent the morning at home working on LuLaRoe stuff, and then we hit the road.

The first stop was Ames!  We dropped off some LLR items for a customer, picked up some for me from a friend going out of business (a pink Amelia and a gorgeous elegant Carly!), traded some leggings, visited several friends, and got to talk to Fred, my former senior pastor when I worked in Ames.  Several of our errands had us walking up and down Main Street, which was wonderful as it was another beautiful day.

Wear A Dress Tuesday #8

Today was unseasonably warm...I know global warming is bad...but sometimes a 60 degree day in February is really enjoyable.  To celebrate I went with my most spring-y looking Amelia - it's yellow and green with Gerber daisies - my favorite flower!  I heart this dress.
